Fibromyalgia (FM) is a complex pain condition. Current research is uncovering information regarding pain mechanisms associated with FM and leading to new approaches to its treatment. It is possible to effectively manage FM patients, but physicians who have not followed the field closely may be unaware of these innovations and may subsequently undertreat the pain associated with FM. This program is intended to enhance the practitioners’ understanding of the burden that FM imposes on patients and society, review the current scientific and clinical data emerging from recent studies, familiarize practitioners with up-to-date assessments and diagnostic techniques and tools, and provide a review of currently available pharmacologic agents. As a result of attending, practitioners will be positioned to achieve more positive clinical outcomes in the patients they treat and manage with FM.
